The puffin resides on high cliffs during mating season. I found them at the remote Látrabjarg cliff, the westernmost point of Iceland. These birds are remarkably tame, probably because of how little they come in contact with human beings. They are comfortable at sea, to where they disappear for months on after before returning to the cliffs to breed. Then, their beaks are incredible. But after mating, the outer part is shed to show a more dull version.
